Wow! very authentic Mexican hole the wall sort of spot... They took an old restaurant from 50's turned into place serving authentic Mexican food... I love it! I hope Paterson can keep revitalizing with great authentic ethnic food like this from all over! I ordered the chichorron chalupas and the steak gorditas.... delicious :) Very large portions I had to take some home. The lady working there is so friendly and helpful with the menu. You will definitely want to go back and try different things off the menu Large selection variety.
Good food, and I love that they deliver and accept cards. Believe it or not there are still some places that don't. I highly recommend. They make all types of traditional authentic Mexican dishes.
Delicious food! The place itself it's small and diner style. Old fashioned and it looks ugly/old from outside but don't let that fool you. I ordered steak fajitas (Skirt steak) that came with rice, fried potato, cheese, guacamole, shrimp and tortillas and costed $12. My fiancé ordered breaded fish with rice and beans and costed $10. The water juices are also fresh and delicious, $3 for a 12oz cup and $4 for a mini jug. I'd deff come back if I'm around. Also prices varies between $5 to $15 per plate.
I was around the area and deciding to dine here on a Saturday night. It wasn't busy and sat at the counter. The phone was non-stop and the orders kept coming it. The waitress was overwhelmed but was able to expedite my order to come together. I ordered the alambre tacos and a Polzole sp? soup. The soup also came with bean (veggie) tostada. I had no idea that came they cam with the soup. The tacos was very rich because it was steak and bacon. I liked that it comes with 4 tacos compared to other places. The tacos didn't come with radish or grilled scallions I expect from the really good mex places. The soup was kinda bland to me but it was still well done with real stock. What's great is that they serve Inca Kola like every other restaurant in P-Town. There's a small Peruvian dishes but I would skip those dishes. CC accepted, i think the are open very late. Not sure about bathroom. The place is tiny. The door is heavy and I kept looking back every time someone entered. Felt like the swat team was coming to get someone when the door busted opened. Plenty of street parking in front of Dr. Cave's during certain hours.
A true gem! Love this place! It's authentic, heart warming food. I love their Chilaquiles verdes, Huevos Rancheros and The Fajitas Mixtas!
